Day-to-Day, June 27

A few pics from the past couple of weeks...  We've been fully enjoying our summer!  I can't believe June is almost over.  Here we go...

We've made several trips to the Aquatic Center.  Eli loves to go down these green slides at least 100 times per visit.  I love seeing him so comfortable doing it, because I remember when I took him there for the first time three years ago and I literally had to ask a lady at the top of the stairs to give Eli a little push, because he would NOT go down on his own!  And of course, I had to catch him at the bottom.  Now I just sit on the side and watch him go up and down, up and down.  He loves it, and so do I!

CJ and Eli.  I love the goggles.

We babysat Timothy and Charlie at bedtime one evening.  We are with them all the time, but I think this is the first time that we've done the full bedtime routine from start to finish with them.  Later that week Timothy told Kelly, "I want you and Daddy to go somewhere and then Eri and Eric can come stay at our house."  Success!  :)

Eli had his friend Dakota over to play last week.  I heard them laughing so hard and turned around to find Dakota giving Eli a "horsie ride."  Ha!  (terrible picture- sorry)

The three of us went to a Rough Riders game last week.  Eli does not look too thrilled.  :)

He was really intense about watching the game and asked about 984 questions during it.  I really do love how he's figuring everything out, and I love how much he loves sports.

rub-a-dub-dub, three cousins in the tub.

We took Eli to an indoor soccer game last week (Dallas Sidekicks).  He LOOOOOVED it.  We sat right up by the glass, so we had a great view of the action.  Eli was SO engaged.  None of us had ever seen indoor soccer before- it was a really fun experience that we'll definitely do again.  Kind of like a cross between ice hockey and soccer.  Fun!

He wants to be a soccer player someday.

Frozen yogurt after VBS.

This is a crazy picture, but I'm so proud of him.  He jumped off the "high rocks" at our friend Carol's house, right into the deep water, and swam all the way to the steps.  He's getting to be such a good swimmer!  He also perfected a cannon ball and a front flip after working on it forever.  I'm so thankful he loves the water so much.  It's got to be genetic!  :)

Have a great weekend!

Day-to-Day, June 11

JUNE!  I can't even believe it.  It's so cliche to say, but time FLIES, especially with little kids.  We are trying to soak up a whole lot of summer fun before school starts in August!  Here are a few pictures of the last couple of weeks...

Eric had a birthday!  My favorite part of all of it was seeing how excited Eli was to celebrate.  We decorated the house and wrapped up Eric's gifts and made him his favorite dessert, and by the time Eric got home Eli was literally bouncing off the walls with excitement. I love it!  And I love his excited face in this picture.

Peach ice cream at Hamm's Orchard.

Blackberry picking!

A friend to all animals, even the tiniest of bugs.  He "made a home" for a bunch of rolly pollies (sp?) in his bug catcher and then first thing in the morning he went outside to set them free.

I love this ensemble.  He has the tassel from his graduation hanging from his baseball cap.  :)

Have a great day!

Preschool Graduation

Admittedly, preschool graduation is a bit "over the top."  :)  But it was still a meaningful occasion, and we are so very grateful for the fantastic school that Eli got to be a part of for the past 1.5 years.  He loved every minute, and we were so impressed with the quality of education, activities, teachers, and, most of all, emphasis on teaching the kids about Jesus.  MLBC Playschool made such a positive impact on Eli's life!

For graduation, they dressed up in caps and gowns, which was adorable, and they sang a few songs on stage.  They had a slide show with each of the kids' baby pictures and then a current picture of the kids with what they wanted to be when they grow up.  Eli said he wanted to be a police man.

They sang "Jesus Loves the Little Children," in both English and Spanish.  The Spanish part was hilarious.  :) They sang the "If I Were a Butterfly" song (I don't know the real name of it.) complete with hand motions, and they finished off with an adorable little song called "Little Me."  It ends by saying, "My hands, my feet, my smile so sweet...  Jesus loves little me."  So cute!  Here's Eli singing...

Each kid had a parent stand with them for the closing prayer, and then the "surprise ending" was a song set to the tune of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" that was called "Move Me On Up to Big School."  They waved little baseball flags and belted out the words- precious!

We all look silly in this picture, but this is as good as we could get with all the chaos afterwards!

We took Eli out for dessert afterwards, which was a fun little memory.  It was a meaningful night, and I can't believe that I have a kid who is going into KINDERGARTEN!  What happened to my little baby?!?
